Support for ECTs Working in the EYFS
Designed to supplement the DfE/National ECT Training offer, this carefully structured online programme focuses on teaching in the EYFS, and will support Early Careers Teachers to navigate this complex key stage. ECTs will be supported in developing:
- A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
- A practical grasp of key tasks; planning, the environment and adult role
- A strong and confident professional identity.
With Nine CPD Modules for ECTs, and additional Webinar & Support Tools for Mentors, the EYFS ECT programme offers a tailored, readymade solution to secure quality teaching over the course of the first year.

- How Young Children Learn – Exploring the Characteristics of Effective Learning, Well-being and Involvement
- Unpicking the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory framework
- Reflecting on Curriculum
ECT Theme Two: The Environment
- Indoors – Developing effective Continuous Provision
- Outdoors – Developing effective Continuous Provision
ECT Theme Three: The Adult
- Exploring Enhanced Provision
- Strengthening the Role of the Adult
- Understanding Assessment in the Early Years
Support Materials for ECT Mentors:
- A webinar to outline the programme contents
- A schedule of professional development activities to keep the ECT focused
- A series of bitesize mentor sessions to focus the ECT on key learning
Cost per school:
£395.00 (exc. VAT) per school
