Mind the Gap! Supporting Transition into Year 1 – Wolverhampton Half Day 10 May $65.00

Mind the Gap! Supporting Transition into Year 1 – Wolverhampton

Course description

We often are reminded that transition is a process, not an event, and is a huge change for children which can impact on their social and emotional wellbeing as well as their academic outcomes. It is up to the adults involved to make the process of transition as smooth and continuous as possible. In this session practitioners will reflect on best practice at this crucial time for supporting children though the key move into Year 1.

This course will focus on the unique challenges and opportunities that successful learning in Y1 brings. It will focus on how to develop the principles of continuous provision and enhancements in Year 1 classrooms that enable children to make progress.  You will have the opportunity to consider how a well-organised, challenging environment, underpins effective learning and teaching across the whole curriculum.

Challenge & Progression in Literacy – Wolverhampton

Course description

Guiding and supporting children’s early Literacy development is a skilful process which we will examine during this practical session. There will be lots to explore- inspiring book areas, writing areas to nurture confidence and purpose, and environments which are rich with language opportunities. We will explore how we can provide appropriate challenge through a well- planned environment, rich in possibilities. Practitioners will consider the experiences, activities and support they provide to promote children’s passion, confidence and skill in literacy and will reflect on what “exceeding” looks like as they consider how to develop their own practice and provision to support this progression. Delegates will leave this session with lots of practical ideas to improve their environments and inspire a deep level of learning.
