A Year Outdoors: All About Effective Outdoor Learning – Wolverhampton

Course description

From making dens and flying kites, to constructing enormous waterways; we know that children thrive in the outdoors across the whole year! A well-planned outdoor area is a powerful learning environment for young children, and should provide opportunities where they can develop and apply their existing skills and knowledge across all areas of the curriculum.

Drawing on examples of outstanding practice, this inspiring and practical course will enable you to optimise the quality of learning in the early years within your outside environment; gaining a clearer understanding of how the characteristics of effective learning and critical skills such as language for thinking, literacy, and maths can be effectively embedded and extended.

Moving On: Ensuring Smooth Transitions Into KS1 – Wolverhampton

Course description

As children move into Y1 it isessential that practice offers continuity from the EYFS, building on children’s learning experiences, whilst also offering sufficient challenge. Ensuring that the Y1 curriculum is met and that all children make progress, whilst keeping the transition experience positive can be challenging for both practitioners and families.

Delegates will examine effective ways to support the transition into KS1 through capitalising on elements of EYFS practice. The challenges of moving from an EYFS curriculum to the National Curriculum will be discussed with time spent exploring practical ways to deal with the implications on planning, timetabling and environments.
