Description

This bite-sized CPD session forms part of a wider series designed to support senior leaders in driving improvement, raising standards and strengthening early years practice. Each session maintains a strong focus on principled practice while aligning closely with current inspection priorities, with particular emphasis on child development, high-quality provision and effective leadership.

This session explores the role of the environment in supporting children’s learning, independence and well-being. It encourages leaders to reflect on how effectively indoor and outdoor spaces align with curriculum intent, promote inclusive practice and provide high-quality learning opportunities. The session also considers how environments contribute to children’s engagement, development and sense of belonging, while meeting key inspection expectations around inclusion and quality of provision.

Key Benefits:

  • Supports leaders to evaluate how effectively the learning environment promotes children’s development, independence and emotional well-being.

  • Strengthens understanding of how environments can be designed to reflect curriculum intent and create purposeful opportunities for learning and exploration.

  • Helps leaders review provision through the lens of current inspection expectations, including inclusion, accessibility and the overall quality of the learning environment.
