A clear understanding of effective pedagogy for different ages is fundamental in securing high outcomes for children in mixed-aged classes. With Ofsted asking schools to examine closely how the whole learning journey is connected and sequenced appropriately, it is essential that school leaders feel equipped to evaluate the current provision and practice. This is especially pertinent in mixed-aged classes. School leaders need to be able to draw on a secure understanding of the core principles of effective pedagogy, knowledge of child development, the statutory requirements - as well as being fully aware of external expectations.
During this seminar we explore key information from Ofsted, about both inspection and their research reviews, and core principles of the high-quality practice and how these are translated into practice and provision. By reflecting on how young children learn and on key quality indicators, Senior Leaders will be supported to evaluate their provision, ensuring that it is connected meaningfully to the whole school curriculum, and identify next steps for strategic development.
