Position Overview
This is a highly rewarding role at the heart of school improvement, early years education (ages 2–7), and the delivery of high-quality professional training. It requires substantial experience, expertise, and a genuine passion for driving school improvement, alongside a strong understanding of staff development and training strategies that deliver rapid and sustainable progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an ambassador for Early Excellence, upholding the principles, practice, and provision on which the organisation is founded
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant policy affecting EYFS and KS1, including DfE, Ofsted, and current research
- Contribute proactively to the Curriculum Team, supporting collaboration and a strong team ethos
- Support business development by identifying key stakeholders and building relationships with schools, academy trusts, and local authorities to meet their improvement and training needs
- Deliver bespoke training and consultancy to schools requiring rapid improvement, supporting both practice and the development of high-quality learning environments, indoors and outdoors
- Lead and contribute to bespoke projects, both online and face-to-face, with travel to schools and settings nationwide as required
- Plan and deliver high-quality training at all levels, including headteacher meetings, phase leader briefings, and practitioner courses
- Contribute to the development of online training, digital products, and supporting materials
- Produce engaging promotional content for courses and events, and actively use social media to showcase impact and success
- Adhere to the company’s safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, as well as those of the schools and settings visited
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a BEd (Hons) or BA + PGCE (specialising in ages 3–7)
- Minimum of 10 years’ school-based teaching experience within Early Years and Key Stage 1
- Proven experience in a leadership role (e.g. Early Years Leader)
- Experience supporting schools beyond your own setting (particularly Reception and Year 1), such as Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) Lead, Local Authority Adviser, or Independent Consultant or Trainer
- Strong, evidence-based knowledge of child development, assessment and data, and effective practice and provision in Early Years and/or KS1
- A confident, engaging communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective professional relationships
- Competent and confident in IT and current technology, school assessment systems, and social media and online platforms
- Ability to produce high-quality written content, including blogs, guidance, and training materials
- Full UK driving licence, access to own vehicle with business class 1 insurance, and willingness to travel extensively
- Based in the Midlands, with flexibility to travel across the South and North of England as required
- Willingness to undergo regular DBS checks in line with safeguarding requirements
Desirable
- Experience in a senior leadership role (e.g. Assistant Headteacher) for a minimum of 3 years
- Specialism in SEND / Inclusion
Contract Details
- Contract Type: Full Time
- Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum, plus pension contributions
- Contract Term: Permanent
- Location: Home-based, with extensive travel required
