This course is the recommended starting point for those looking to introduce and embed effective continuous provision in KS1. It has been designed to support teachers in Y1 & Y2 and will focus on how to develop an effective environment for learning that meets the needs of all children as they move through KS1.
Join us for either a full day session face to face or as a programme of three 90 minute webinars to deepen knowledge and gain inspiration and ideas to improve practice and provision.
There will be recommended pre-course reading and gap tasks to undertake to maximise impact, and you will also receive additional resources to use back in school to enrich learning.
Focusing on key aspects of pedagogy, the sessions explore:
The Rationale for Change
We start by considering the key principles of child development and recognise the importance of understanding how children learn in KS1, beginning to explore how to plan provision that builds on children’s previous experiences.
How to Design an Effective Classroom Environment
We move on to revisit the key principles of effective continuous provision providing guidance on how best to plan the space available and prioritise the areas of continuous provision that will impact most on children’s progress in KS1.
Linking Provision to the Curriculum
Finally we look closely at the link between continuous provision and the demands of the KS1 curriculum, ensuring that provision provides rich opportunities for exploring key concepts, as well as acquiring and practicing skills with sufficient challenge.
