Our ready-made Sand Resource Collection for 5-7yrs provides a range of opportunities for exploration and imaginative play whilst embedding a deeper understanding of maths, science and language concepts. As children investigate and explore, they will discover new sensory experiences, explore known materials, make links and act out experiences as well as explore shape, space and quantity.
This substantial Sand Resource Collection for 5-7yrs will inspire your children to discover the properties of dry sand, how it moves and flows, and encourage KS1 children to explore the process of transforming dry sand to wet and then moulding and moving wet sand. An essential area of your KS1 classroom, the sand area enables young children to play collaboratively and be fascinated by new processes and movements.
Including a selection of plastic graded jugs, metal sand tools and wooden containers, you can support children’s mathematical and scientific thinking as they begin to understand similarity and difference, shape and space, speed and flow, force and direction. The utensils enable children to make a range of impressions that supports early mark making, whilst the small world animals and natural materials teach children to ask questions, describe materials, properties and express emotions.
