The acquisition of spoken language and communication skills in early childhood builds strong foundations for reading, writing and mathematics. High quality role play supports children as they experiment with language, allowing vocabulary to flourish in meaningful contexts.
This twilight will explore the importance of establishing meaningful and quality role play that remains in place all year – and that which adapts to reflect new interests and themes. Using the Centre’s Interactive Environment as support we will consider resources that can be added to the environment which will provide opportunities across all areas of learning, reflect children’s personal experiences and spark conversations!
- An understanding of how role play can support learning across the curriculum, across the year
- Knowledge of what are the key features you need to provide and why
- Imaginative and practical ideas for continuous provision and enhancements
