Good planning builds on what children already know, do and understand, as well as opening up to new possibilities for children to explore. Across this course participants will explore how an effective learning environment, carefully planned and organised, promotes a broad range of learning opportunities. It will take practitioners through the process of responsive planning to support effective learning and explores ways in which adults respond to children ideas to challenge and extend thinking.
Time will be given to reflect on the relationship between planning and assessment. There will also be the opportunity to discuss current planning issues and explore possible solutions. The interactive environment on display at the Centre will be used throughout the course, as well as examples of best practice from schools and nurseries that we have worked in partnership with.
