School Readiness: Planning for & Ensuring Smooth Transitions into Reception & Into Year 1

Course description

Transition is not an event, but a process. Poor transitions cause stress for young children which can lead to anxiety, significantly impacting on their ongoing progress across all areas of learning and development. The transition from Nursery to Reception and then into Y1 continues to be a challenge and area of debate for many schools and for many children. In order to ensure a smooth transition and continuity in their learning it is vital to consider the unique needs of each child. The course will explore ways to make the best use of evidence that has been captured about children’s learning.
Throughout the day delegates will consider key principles for transition and practical ways to ensure this is as smooth and successful as possible; with opportunities to reflect on their current approach and consider a developmentally and age appropriate approach.

Benefits
• A deeper understanding of the impact transition has on children
• Strategies to help make the most of existing evidence about children’s previous learning

Recognising the Needs of Boys’ Learning EYFS & Y1 One Day Summer $175.00

Recognising the Needs of Boys’ Learning EYFS & Y1

Course description

The gender gap is a much-discussed topic across the education sector. Early years practitioners often come across the same problems; with boys not appearing to fully engage in an adult led activities or reluctant to use all experiences provided to support their learning. It is critical that we plan meaningful and challenging experiences that connect with all children’s passions and spark their imaginations!

This course will explore theories behind young children’s development and how these relate specifically to boys. Throughout the day participants will consider how we can address these issues in imaginative and practical ways; including time exploring the Centre’s interactive environment.   Case studies will be shared, to highlight how by making small changes we can have a positive impact for all learners.

Benefits

  • A deeper understanding of boys learning in the Early Years
  • Strategies and tools to help you evaluate your current provision
  • Materials to share with other staff and parents
