If children experience stories from birth they have a head start in developing early language and literacy skills, as they are familiar with story structures, characters, plots and settings. This in turn influences them as storytellers and authors in their own right. Children who are able to tell the best stories often become the best story writers!
In this twilight practitioners will explore the unique opportunities for engaging young children in the art of storytelling in the outdoors through ‘big thinking’. Delegates will have the opportunity to discover new ways to enrich practice using a wide range of resources and provocations that will inspire children’s creative thinking.
- A deeper understanding of the power of storytelling to develop children’s language.
- Practical and inspiring ideas for using outdoors to support children’s creative thinking.
