Description

This two day course will inform and ignite the wonder of mathematics in early years. It will provide practitioners with the awareness of the potential and power of mathematics in everyday activity, along with providing a range of ideas and strategies for further enhancing mathematical provision and skills based teaching.

Day 1
During day one we will focus on developing an inspiring learning environment, indoors and
outdoors, that supports mathematical thinking, reasoning and problem solving. A gap task will be introduced at the end of the day for delegates to pursue in the classroom between the course days.

Day 2
Day two will include discussion of the role of the adult in supporting and extending children’s mathematical language and thinking. Delegates will explore how children’s mathematical graphics can give an insight into their awareness and understanding of mathematical concepts. We will also share research around the teaching of key skills through focused input and equip you to make sustained improvement in mathematical learning.
